Last week

3 augustus 2018 - Cairns, Australië

Hello everyone,

This was my last week in Australia. The main focus of this week was getting some rest before the long journey ahead and buying presents for my family back home. On Monday, I asked an old Australian man what I should buy for my mother. He suggested an Australian opal, which is a gemstone only found in Australia and is often used to make jewelry. He pointed me to a street full of opal shops and gave me some tips. Once I arrived, I saw all these beautiful necklaces and rings with opal stones, and I ended up buying a necklace and a ring with a Mackenzie opal stone. The total cost was 400 dollars, but I figured it was worth it because the stones were so beautiful.

Well, this was my last week in Australia. This journey has been amazing, and I have learned so much about myself. I have met people who became like family, seen animals that I had never seen before, and tasted food I would have never eaten. It was my first time travelling alone, and I didn't know what to expect, but this beautiful country and its people were so welcoming. This has been the best decision of my life so far. I now understand why they promote studying abroad so much at our university. The lessons you learn from travelling can't be taught from a book or anywhere else. You must smell, taste, and experience it for yourself.

My flight back to the Netherlands was on Sunday. School won't start until September, so that meant that I had a whole month to myself. I thought about it, and the Marco Polo in me screamed for another adventure. I had always wanted to see Bali and its nature, and since I was already on the other side of the world, why not travel a little more? So, I cancelled my flight back home and booked a flight to Bali on Sunday. The flight will be four hours, so it won't be that long. My adventures continue, and I want to thank you all for embarking on this wonderful journey with me.

Hopefully, you have enjoyed my blogs, and I'm looking forward to my next adventure. The story continues!
